Manus in Manu

Laying on the bed on day one burning with your brilliance,

Debilitated, in awe of your resilience.

Whatever fate has in store, we dare to explore,

Succinctly discourteous, yet our laughter will soar.

Welcome to my silly life, starting to be shared with you.

Mere days later, our limbs awry across this bed, tangled and true,

Tongues numbed, by the tales we weave,

Arms and legs melting, as we’d dare to believe.

You proclaim you would cheerfully bugger me whilst we wait for time,

To pass us by, in rhythm and in rhyme.

We share stories of halcyon days of childhood, where we found our kin,

Friends of our youth, in adventures we’d begin

Enigmatic sepulchres of loves gone by,

Spent friendships lamented, yet our spirits continue to fly high.

Former kings and cities, lost in memories vast,

In the valleys of her arms, our woven story is now cast.

But drowned in the depths of her eyes, we’d find,

The soul astonished, by connections entwined.

In the dance of time, we find solace in each other,

Trepidation of departure, as paths diverge,

Do our roads lead to separate urges?

But during this new dance, we find in each other

Maybe another chance

Through jesting jabs and playful swipes we thrive,

Grateful for that fateful swipe, where our destinies now arrive.

Hand in Hand.
