A Love to Last
It was the first time we had met, but that night I felt the world.
That finally I was enough for someone.
Oh how we talked the night away
And drank too much.
And flirted outrageously.
You pulled me in close to your chest
Sweeping the hair from my face
and planting a delicate kiss on my forehead
and another on my hand.
Grinning down at me with that cheeky ladish smirk.
This would be a tender love, the like neither had felt before.
It was though we could enjoy a life time of love.
One that you only read about in books
Or sung about in songs.
One that would out last the ages.
That first day, I knew that no matter what occured
I would endeavour to keep you close to me.
It was though divine intervention had answered
our call to bring someone into our hearts,
and our beds.
And there in a quiet nook of a quaint London pub
Amongst the business men and women
We snuggled close and shared our first kiss.
Launching us down a rocky path of love.
